Before Chinese New Year, have been hearing over the radio about Chinese New Year customs, food and songs, made me can't wait for the New Year to arrive. After yearning, New Year finally arrived. As usual, we have our reunion lunch after praying our accestors, watching TV until midnight 守睡.
The next morning, we woke up rather late cos last nite we slept after midnight. We greeted elders Happy New Year, bathed, get prepared and went to temple to pray then to our grandma's house before we set off to visit various relative's house. Uncle bought Yu Sheng and we lao Yu Sheng at grandma's house. Yummy...
Besides New Year foods and drinks, the next hot spots are the cute kids.
My grandpa, grandma and uncles, aunts came over our place for dinner, an unexpected guest flew into our house, it's a minor. Usaually minors only stopped and flew away in the kitchen, they won't stay for long, but this minor stopped at the basin for long time and even flew into our living room on the mahjong table, our granny quickly wrote numbers on small piceces of paper and let the bird pick, the bird really picked and we threw food to the bird, grandpa fed the bird. Dad let it out later.

Why Mahjong has ‘碰’‘红中’‘白板’‘铜子’‘发’‘倏子’
Long Long ago, in ancient time, the guards has to guard the warehouse and field. They gambled to kill the time. At that time the field had been attacked by the sparrows. The guards had to shoot the sparrows.
‘碰’is the gunshot, when the sparrows got shot and bled and so ‘红中’appeared. if the guard missed the shot, it will become ‘白板’the ‘铜子’means the bullet of the gun, the guards will be rewarded by money end of the month so they will get ‘发’. They will tied the legs of the monirs and hanged them up and here comes ‘倏子’resembles the legs of the birds.
That's how the Mahjong characters came about.
