I went to meet my family at Vivocity after my dance class on Sunday. We didn't have much idea about what to eat during dinner, so we walked along the mall that gather alot of restaurants to choose around and we chose Dian Xiao Er.
First time to Dian Xiao Er at Vivocity even though it already has four outlets in Singapore. We were greeted by the nice ambiance when we stepped into the restaurant. The whole restaurant is like as though you have entered into to old old time thousand years ago in China as seen in the movie. The crews were wearing traditional dian xiao er uniform. The restaurant also have a sea view corner, but too bad as it was dinner time and the space of the restaurant is not big, we could only be happy to get a seat. Six of us squeezed in a round table and we almost had not enough table space when all our dishes were served. We ordered Ginseng Duck, Mongolian Ribs and Old Style steam Fish and Sauted Brocoli to go along with a bowl of plain rice each.
All the food were tasty. The Ginseng Duck is highly recommended as the both duck skin and meat were nicely blended with the herbal gravy. The whole dish was nicely cooked that you can even eat the herbs (fu zhu) in the dish, and I did. The fu zhu were soft and sweet. This mean that the gravy was boiled for hours.
Next to recommend was the Old Style steam fish. I don't know the name of the fish but I know that people normally call it 'Sheng Yu' which is used for fish soup and fish soup noodle.
The meat of the fish was very fresh and smooth. It was cooked just nice.
The shape of the beancurd were special and taste not bad too.
The Mongolian Ribs were cooked with black pepper. It was very sweet and tasty.
And vegie to medidate the meat dishes. Sauted Brocoli
We finished all the dishes on the table with satisfaction and of course, the price to pay after dinner was quite high too. However, it is worth trying with three 'Yeahs'.
